It’s finally time to break the blog silence! I hate that the blog has been so quiet lately, but what a busy couple of weeks it’s been. We are *nearly* finished remodeling the big bedroom and now it’s time to finish those last nagging details and decorate. But in our “let’s get everything done now so that we don’t have to worry about it later” frenzy, this happened:

Full on plaster demolition. When we first moved in, the walls in the front bedroom were covered in a really light colored fake wood paneling. We tore it down to discover severely cracked and uneven plaster underneath, and it looked like the previous homeowners tried to fill in the cracks and seams with tar. Since we were on a time budget, we opted to do our best to fill and “float out” the imperfections with joint compound. Once everything was sanded smooth and painted, the walls looked great…..for a little while. We cleared out the room as part of our other bedroom makeover and really got a good look at how the walls were fairing 2 years later. They had to go. So on one of the hottest days ever, we busted out the hammer and crowbar and started tearing it apart and getting rid of all the decades old blown in insulation. I cannot wait until these bedroom remodels are DONE. Having our bed in the middle of the living room has been a blast for the kids, jumping and lounging around. But us Big Kids are getting tired of living like squatters. My darling husband told me he’s really starting to regret the “we need to get creative” comment. :)

So that’s what we’ve been up to. We took a break from the remodeling during the heat wave and have been talking walks, swimming, and planning our summer camping trip. And in the quiet moments, I’ve been sewing, and cutting, and creating some lovely details for our home, crafting with The Bigs, and some custom orders for my awesome customers. ♥

Wishing you all a beautiful week!
