Last week was AWESOME. And this last year has been even more awesome. We had a ton of new people visit the blog and Facebook page and some renewed interest from old favorites. I will do all I can to keep your interest, to pass out some inspirations, and to host more giveaway opportunities along the way. I really loved all your comments on the blog and have to pat myself on the back for the “getting to know you” comments as an entry option. Terrific idea. And I thought I’d share a little more about myself by sharing my answers to those questions as well.

How do you celebrate special occasions?
I bake and I decorate. Cupcakes and banners are a regular thing in our house and we do it for just about anything special. First days of school, school concert days, and of course holidays. (I even once did it for a Tuesday. Just because.) On birthdays, I stay up late and hang bunting and signs all over the house while everyone else is sleeping, so that everyone wakes up to to a party.
What am I most grateful for?
I am incredibily grateful for the opportunity to blog and share my designs, thoughts, and handmade home with all of you. I often think, “what if I share this and no one cares?”, but then I remember that there are a ton of awesome people who do care. I feel so lucky to have that.
How do you use baker’s twine?
How DON’T I use it? For reals. I had a teacher in elementary school who used to bring in those pink boxes of donuts with red and white bakers twine around it, and I loved it then. I once saved a piece of it and kept it tied around the pencils in my desk until the white turned brown with dirt and it started to fray. Now, it’s everywhere and I never tire of seeing it. Home decor, packaging, cards, party banners, and yes, baking. You can use it for EVERYTHING.
What do you do to dress up gifts and packages?
As a rule, I always customize the gift to the person I’m giving it to or what I’m giving them. I like things to be cohesive and personal. So if I know your favorite colors or a hobby you love, I incorporate it. I also stalk your pinterest boards and Facebook posts. I want you to love what I give you, so I do my research. :)
What do you love about handmade?
Handmade has a devotion, a painstaking love in it. It’s personal, passionate, created from joy. It’s not a rushed process. I moon over it, dwell on it, pour myself into it. Every room in our house has something in it that I’ve put myself into, something no one else has. It makes our space unique, loved, spectacularly personal. Handmade = Heartmade.
